Choose AIGP if you want an exam-based professional AI governance credential. Choose an AI governance course if your immediate goal is learning a particular topic or improving work in your organisation. You can study governance without pursuing certification, and paying for training does not itself award AIGP.

How much do the exam and training cost?

These are provider-listed prices checked on 2 October 2026. The combined figures are the arithmetic sum of the exam and online training, not a quoted bundle. Membership fees, additional materials, retakes, currency conversion and applicable charges are separate. Confirm checkout before paying.

The online training is described as equivalent to 13 hours of live training. That is not a guaranteed total exam-preparation time. Allow for independent study and comparison with the current exam body of knowledge.

Ongoing requirements matter too

IAPP states a two-year certification term, with continuing education and maintenance requirements. The exam page specifies 20 relevant continuing education credits and explains member and non-member fees. Include maintenance in your decision rather than considering only the initial exam.

Read the current policies yourself before booking, especially if you already hold another IAPP certification. Existing credentials can affect term alignment.

When should you choose a course instead?

If you need to understand a particular regulation, technical risk or public-sector task, a focused course may be more useful than an exam syllabus. Compare teaching scope, exercises, feedback and the knowledge you need to apply.
