Course comparison
IBM RAG and Agentic AI vs Eden Marco: which course should you choose?
Choose IBM if you want a structured certificate programme spanning several approaches to AI application development. Consider Eden Marco if you already write Python and want a course concentrated on LangChain, LangGraph and their surrounding tools.
Both cover retrieval-augmented generation, or RAG, and agents. Buying both immediately is likely to create overlap. Start with the skills you need and the learning format you will actually use.
This comparison assesses published curricula and learner fit. We have not completed either programme or independently tested the lessons.

Where the curricula overlap
| Topic | IBM RAG and Agentic AI | Eden Marco on Udemy |
|---|---|---|
| RAG and vector databases | Dedicated courses in introductory and advanced retrieval | RAG and agentic RAG within the course |
| LangChain and LangGraph | Included within a wider programme | Central to the curriculum |
| Other approaches | Includes LlamaIndex, multimodal applications and multiple agent frameworks | Concentrates on the LangChain ecosystem |
| MCP | Dedicated course | Server and client material within the syllabus |
| Practical work | Labs and a final capstone | Coding exercises and application-building examples |
| Learning structure | Ten-course Professional Certificate | A single course with approximately 20 hours of video |
These are published syllabus features, rather than evidence that one programme teaches them more effectively. The main distinction is breadth and structure. IBM gives you a sequence across several application-development topics. Eden Marco offers a more concentrated route through a particular ecosystem.
Who should choose IBM?
IBM is worth considering if you can already work with Python but want a programme that connects retrieval, agents and application development.
Its published practical work includes interfaces, similarity search and a capstone. That gives learners a defined programme to work towards, rather than a collection of unrelated tutorials.
The trade-off is potential repetition. If you already understand embeddings, vector databases and basic LangChain applications, compare the individual course outlines carefully. Completing familiar material solely to collect another certificate may add little.

Who should choose Eden Marco?
Eden Marco is worth considering when your intended project already points towards LangChain or LangGraph.
The provider expects Python, Git and development-environment skills. The syllabus includes tracing with LangSmith and several agent patterns. It is not positioned as a first programming course.
Our reason to consider it is focus. You can assess whether one instructor’s explanations and sequence suit you before committing to a broader programme.
The limitation is the same focus. Learning a framework is useful when you need that framework. It does not replace broader software engineering, evaluation or deployment experience.

Compare costs using your actual checkout
A single headline price can be misleading because access arrangements and regional prices differ.
| Purchase arrangement | How to compare the cost |
|---|---|
| Monthly subscription | Monthly charge multiplied by the billing periods you expect to need |
| Annual subscription | The full annual charge, even if you finish sooner |
| Individual course purchase | The final checkout amount and stated access conditions |
| Either learning route | Add any separately charged model APIs or hosted services |
For illustration, a subscription costing 50 currency units per month would cost 150 over three billing periods or 300 over six. This is an arithmetic example, not a current provider quote.
Also compare workload sensibly. Video hours and a programme’s estimated learning hours measure different things. Allow time for setup, exercises, mistakes and independent practice.
Test your choice against one project
Imagine you want to build an assistant that answers questions from public policy documents.
You need to retrieve relevant passages, identify sources and recognise when the documents do not answer a question. You might not need an autonomous agent at all.
If you want a broad programme covering the components, examine IBM. If your development stack is already settled and you need focused framework instruction, examine Eden Marco.
If you only need help with one component, start with free LangChain Academy material or the relevant documentation.
Our recommendation: choose one route, build something independently and use the gaps you discover to decide what to study next.
