These are different learning routes, rather than a ranking of one provider above the other. Check each provider’s current course and assessment information before enrolling.

Start with Hugging Face for a broader introduction

The Hugging Face Agents Course combines agent fundamentals, framework units and practical assignments.

Its breadth is useful when you are still deciding how to approach agent development. You can examine different implementations before spending more time on one ecosystem.

The provider expects basic Python and LLM knowledge. If you cannot yet install packages, work with functions or diagnose a simple error, spend time on those skills first.

Read our Hugging Face course assessment for the distinction between its Agents and LLM courses.

Start with LangChain Academy for a specific development goal

LangChain Academy is the official learning platform. Its catalogue includes introductory routes for LangChain, LangGraph and Deep Agents, alongside material on testing, deployment and monitoring.

Choose the course around your immediate question.

For example, Introduction to LangGraph includes state, memory, human feedback and deployment topics. That makes it relevant when you want to understand how a workflow maintains information and progresses through different steps.

Our recommendation is to begin with the simplest introductory route that addresses your project. Completing every Academy course is unnecessary if you only need one part of the stack.

Understand the certificate difference

Hugging Face describes a fundamentals certificate after Unit 1 and a completion pathway involving further assignments and a final challenge.

LangChain Academy distinguishes its free learning content from the paid LangChain Certified Agent Engineer exam. Do not assume that watching free lessons awards that certification.

If a credential matters, check exactly what must be completed, whether an exam is separate and what the resulting award represents.

Free learning can still involve project costs

Before following an exercise, identify any model APIs, hosted services or accounts it requires. Review their current terms and set a spending limit where available.

Keep your first project small. A modest application you can inspect is more useful for learning than a complicated system whose behaviour you cannot explain.

Should you take both?

Yes, if they serve different stages of your learning.

A sensible sequence is to use Hugging Face for agent fundamentals, then choose an Academy course for a specific implementation. If your team already uses LangGraph, starting with the relevant Academy material may be more efficient.

To compare your progress, build the same small task through each route: an assistant that searches a public document collection and identifies supporting passages.

Record where it retrieves irrelevant material, loses context or produces an unsupported answer. This is our suggested comparison exercise, not a provider assessment.
